The USB receiver base is a radio dongle that plugs into your PC and receives wireless data from uMyo and uECG sensors — no phone, no WiFi bridge, no Android required. It connects to your PC via USB and communicates with sensors over radio (UF1 protocol), keeping the sensor fully wireless. Wired sensor connections introduce noise; uMyo and uECG are designed from the ground up to avoid that entirely.
This is the recommended setup for serious R&D: higher throughput than BLE, lower latency, multi-device support (star protocol, multiple sensors simultaneously), and works on Linux, Windows, and Mac. Also the only current option for iPhone users, since iOS BLE support is still in development.
Works with uMyo in base mode (green LED) and nRF24 mode (purple LED). Web workbench GUI support for base mode is coming soon — see the roadmap.
